Alvarez aka "El Indio" Drug Kingpin For The Betrán Leyva Cartel Arrested

Mexico D.C. (HNNUSA) - On Wednesday, José Gerardo Alvarez, aka "El Indio" or "El Chayán" and 15 members of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel were  arrested by the Mexican military police. Alvarez and the suspects were arrested near the Mexican capitol after a gun battle between the Mexican military police and the suspects transpired ending with three suspects dead.
Alvarez is the alleged leader and drug lord for for the Betrán Leyva Cartel, which operated out of Guerrero, Morelos and Acapulco, according to General Edgar Luis Villegas, Assistant Chief of Major Operations for National Defense.
Alvarez was wanted in Mexico for multiple drug manaufacturing and distribution charges, said Maricela Morales, from Mexico's Attorney General's Office in charge of Combating Organized Crime.
The U.S. District Court of Southern California has issued an extradition order for Alvarez, who is wanted for multiple charges alleging drug manufacturing, smuggling, distribution of metaphmines and operating a criminal organization in the U.S. Alvarez who used multiple aliases to avoid capture had a $2 million dollar bounty from the U.S., Morales stated during a press conference on Thursday.
Alvarez is an associate of Edgar Valdez Villareal, aka "La Barbie" and with Héctor Beltrán Leyva.
Also arrest was Sepúlveda Salto, aka "El Gato" a lieutenant for the Beltrán Leyva Cartel in Guerrero.
