Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Monday, Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) learned that the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office filed criminal felony charges on November 8, 2024 against Christian Martin, 18, and a arrest felony warrant was issued on Monday, November 11, 2024 in connection with the October 28, 2024 fatal shooting of Nelson Manuel López Correa, 15, who had succumbed to his head wound injury and died days later.

Martin was charged with 1st-degree intentional homicide including use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, Martin is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Martin allegedly shot López Correa behind the head late last month near the 1600 block of W. Forest Home Ave. and is now being sought by police in connection with the López Correa's homicide.

According to the criminal complaint, López Correa was with a girl he was dating and another male teen near S. 16 and W. Forest Home Ave. when Martin approached the girl who previously dated him. Apparently, the girl had talked to Martin a day earlier, but Martin came upon the group and began to talk to the girl. She told Martin that she didn't want to date him anymore and Martin struck her on the side. As López Correa and the girl who was dating him stood by the bus stop, Martin shot López Correa from behind and the girl fled to a nearby gas station.

Police recovered video surveillance footage from the area and it showed Martin shooting López Correa and the girl running away. The second male teen with López Correa told police that had gone to his home nearby to check on the bus schedule, but while he was returning to the bus stop to meet up with his friend, he heard a gunshot and saw López Correa fall, by then Martin had fled the scene.

The family of López Correa told HNNUSA that they will host a Justice for Nelson Manuel López Correa peaceful march on November 16, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., meeting location at S. 16 Street and W. Forest Home Ave., and around 10:40 a.m., those attending will march to the Milwaukee Police Department District 2 Station, 245 W. Lincoln Ave. in Milwaukee.
