Milwaukee County Mitchell Domes Task Force Unveiled $66M Plan For Park Upgrade

Dozens of Southside and Milwaukee County residents supported the Mitchell Domes Task Force Plan.

Milwaukee, WI - On Wednesday, dozens of Southside and Milwaukee County residents that attended the Milwaukee County Board Open House - Public Hearing where information and Domes plan exhibits were displayed spoke in favor of the Milwaukee Domes Task Force plan, which is expected to cost $66M, but the County will pay at least $13.5M. 

The immediate vicinity near the Domes has a 68% of Latino population, according to the Task Force Plan.

The highlights of the plan include, but not limited too:

 • Well lit garden areas and surrounding picnic and food services areas

• Tennis courts and kayaks on pond

• Will have culinary instruction and culinary arts training 

• Food trucks on weekends

• Center for workforce training in horticulture, urban agriculture and culinary arts, which a projected of more than 330 jobs will be created

• A wedding garden with 300 seating capacity 

• Boathouse pavilion 

• Children's garden

• Amphitheate with 1,500 seating capacity and upgraded stage for music, theater and dance

• Greenhouses for research, learning and cooking 

Projected generated revenue for years 2022 - $3.435M; 2025 - $ 5.08M; 2027 - $5.97M; 2029 - $5.96M and for 2031 - $6.38M

Editor's note: Also Milwaukee  County park areas designated for public events should be made affordable to rent by permit and not over priced by insurance, clean up, maintenance personnel and security requirements today.
