Milwaukee, WI - On May 6, Alicia M. "Nena" Zamarripa, 66, also Known as "Patricia" originally from San Antonio, Texas passed away to eternal life. Loving daughter of the late Andres and the late Alicia M. (nee Morones) Zamarripa. Sister of Humberto, Andres Jr., Gabriel, the late Sylvia, Patricia, Alejandro, Diana and the late Mario Zamarripa. She is the aunt of JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milwaukee), the current State Representative for the 8th Assembly District.
Patricia ran for public office in Wisconsin and was one of the first Hispanic woman to seek the 8th Assembly seat in 1998. She was one of six candidates after State Representative Walter J. Kunicki retired.
Patricia was well known in the community and active on community issues for most of her life. She and her mother Alicia M. (nee Morones) Zamarripa, 88, who shared the same name went to Las Cruces, New Mexico to visit with family members and died days apart from each other.
Some family members of the Zamarripas and mother participated in the annual Guadalupe Catholic Church festival at the 700 block of S. 4th Street as cold soda venders.
The young Zamarripa passed away on May 6 and funeral services will be held in Milwaukee. Her mother passed away on May 10 and funeral services will take place in Las Cruces, New Mexico, according to family members.
Zamarripa is one of nine siblings.
Funeral services today for Zamarripa will take place at the AsenciĆ³n Lutheran Church, 1236, S. Layton Blvd. in Milwaukee, WI. Visitation from 11:30 a.m. To 1:30 p.m. and memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
