Suspects buried victim alive in shallow grave and stole $8,000.

Camden, New Jersey - On Thursday, both Carlos Alicea-Antonetti, 36, of Camden and Ramon Ortiz, 57, of Pennsauken were charged with one felony count each for murder in the death of Fatima Perez, 41, of Camden. If convicted, both Antonetti and Ortiz are facing life in prison without parole. A cash bond of $5M each was set for both suspects.
The suspects confessed that they tied up Perez with duct tape covering her eyes and mouth.
They placed Perez while still alive in a shallow grave after she pleaded for her life. The suspects put lime on the hole, then placed Perez and covered up the hole.
She was reported missing on Monday. The family told police that she was meeting up with Antonetti to go buy a vehicle for the family.
Her body was found on Wednesday in Monroe Township. She died of asphyxiation, according to the criminal complaint.
On Monday, Perez arranged for Antonetti to accompany her to purchase a vehicle. She was carrying $8,000 in cash. Antonetti decided to steal the cash with the help of Ortiz. Ortiz had dug the shallow hole where Perez was buried. He later led police to the crime scene.
A tip led detectives to arrest Ortiz at the Express Inn on Cherry Hill. Antonetti was taken into custody along route 38, where police saw him walking. Both men were staying at the hotel.
Police recovered $7,000 in cash from Antonetti. Antonetti operated a landscaping company and Ortiz worked for him.
Perez is survived by a 7-year-old son and a 21-year-old daughter, according to family.
