37-year-old Milwaukee Police Officer Peter Jerving Killed By 19-year-old Armed Robbery Suspect In The Southside Of Milwaukee

19-year-old Black male suspect fired his weapon during struggle with Milwaukee Police Officer Jerving striking him critically in the Southside of Milwaukee.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at around 1:16 a.m. Milwaukee police officers from District 4 responded to the 2700 block of S. 14 Street location where a 19-year-old Black male armed robbery suspect wanted earlier for a robbery at the 3600 block of W. Good Hope Rd. was located. When officers arrived in the Southside of Milwaukee, the armed suspect fled on foot and when an officer caught up with the suspect, they began to struggle. The suspect fired his weapon striking the officer and the officer fired back.

Milwaukee Police Officer Peter Jerving, 37, was critically injured and was conveyed to Froedtert Hospital where he died at 1:52 a.m.. Officer Jerving had 4 years of service with the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD). He was hired by MPD in 2018.

The 19-year-old suspect, Terrell Thompson died at 1:51 a.m. from a gunshot wound at the scene. Police haven't determined, if the suspect died from a self-inflicted wound or from police gunfire.
