Highland Park Sniper Robert E. Crimo III Charged With 7 Counts Of Murder For The 4th Of July Parade Massacre

Crimo III has been charged with 7 felony counts of murder and additional charges expected.

Highland Park, Illinois - The Lake County State Attorney's Office charged Robert E. Crimo III, 21, of Highwood with 7 felony counts of intentional murder and additional felony counts are forthcoming in the upcoming days.

Crimo III was booked at the Lake County jail on Wednesday. If convicted, Crimo III is facing 7 life term sentences without the possibility of parole.

According to the criminal complaint, Crimo III intended to commit additional murders in Madison, Wisconsin, but decided he wasn't prepared and decided to return to Illinois. He was stopped on Monday just after 6:00p.m. in a traffic stop by Lake Forest police and was taken into custody without incident.

Crimo III, a known Trump supporter and a MAGA cult follower is accused of fatally shooting 7 victims and wounding 47 other victims with a high-powered rifle attending the 4th of July 2022 Highland Park parade. 

Crimo III  was able to get on the roof of a building by climbing a ladder and discharged his weapon at least 70 times at parade spectators and participants. He then escaped the crime scene disguised as a female to blend with the crowds that were running for their lives in the chaos and then he walked to his mother's home. Crimo III  was able to use his mother's vehicle to travel to Madison and then return to Illinois.

The seven victims killed by Crimo III were identified as:

• Katherine Goldstein, 64, of Highland Park

• Irina McCarthy, 35, of Highland Park 

• Kevin McCarthy, 37, of Highland Park 

• Jacquelyn Sundheim, 63, of Highland Park 

• Stephen Straus, 88, of Highland Park 

• Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza, 78, of Morelos, Mexico 

• Eduardo Uvaldo, 69, of Waukegan
