Oregon, Illinois - On Wednesday, Manuel Estrella was stopped around 4:30 p.m. on a traffic violation for not having lights on a vehicle he was driving and was taken into custody by a Ogle County Sheriff deputy for not having a valid driver's license, according to his daughter Cintya Sanchez. Sanchez who contacted Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) claims in her personal Facebook (FB) post that the Ogle County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) violated the Trust Act and is now criticizing Illinois Governor JP Pritzker (D) for not holding the OCSO accountable for violating the Trust Act.
Governor Pritzker recently announce that he would not allow police and County Sheriff's in Illinois to be an extension of ICE immigration enforcement and banned private undocumented children ICE funded detention centers in the state.
According to Sanchez, Ogle County Sheriff Lt. Jason Lynn, who is in charge of the County Jail and Sergeant William White violated federal law by not releasing her father when ICE agents failed to pick him up after 24 hours. Lt. Lynn apparently allowed for assigned deputies to transport Estrella to an ICE facility in Illinois after ICE agents failed to pick up Estrella.
Sanchez's posted on FB says, "...officials are not following the law. I am living proof. My father was incarcerated Wednesday around 4:30 for no "lights" and no DL. We paid BAIL ! He was supposed to be let go!! OGLE COUNTY CALLED IMMIGRATION ON HIM. OGLE COUNTY DETAINED AND HELD HIM, they BROKE the TRUST ACT. And then they said if AFTER 24 hours ice didn't come he would be let out. MORE then 24 hours passed and ice never came OGLE COUNTY TOOK HIM TO IMMIGRATION.

Lieutenant Jason Lynn and Sergeant William White did NOT COMPLY with the law. THEY REFUSED TO SPEAK TO US. Even when we had TWO LAWYERS.

You governor JB have done nothing for my people.

Please Share! Please spread the news. Please care. My family is in a million pieces."
According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) website, no law enforcement agency including the Ogle County Sheriff's Department in the state of Illinois has no authorized 287(g) agreement with ICE to have their deputies or officers act like Immigration enforcement agents.
The OCSO has not posted any press release about Estrella's arrest on Wednesday for not having a valid driver's license compared to other arrests made during the week for not having a driver's license on its Website.
