40-year-old Man Fatally Shot During Altercation In Milwaukee's Southside Lincoln Village

The second shooting homicide in 2016 was reported on Tuesday by Milwaukee police.

Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, Michael Schafrik, 40, was fatally shot during an altercation around 4:30 p.m. at the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Ave. in Milwaukee's Southside Lincoln Village, according to police. The victim died at the scene and became the second homicide of the year.
Police have arrested the alleged shooter, a 14-year-old male teen and several accomplices, another 14-year-old male teen and a 33-year-old female in connection with Schafrik's murder.
On January 3, Deondrick Byrd, 45, was fatally shot at the 2400 block of N. 6th St. in the Northside of Milwaukee making him the first victim to be murdered in 2016.
Milwaukee police reported 629 victims suffered gunshot wounds some fatal and 145 homicides in 2015.
In 2014, 86 homicides were reported compared to 105 in 2013 in Milwaukee.
