23-year-old Jose M. Silva Sentenced To 18 Years In Prison For Vehicular Homicide While Drunk In The Death Of Pastor Aaron M. Strong, 40, In Milwaukee

Silva pleaded guilty in mid February to vehicular homicide while intoxicated in a plea deal in connection with the homicide of a 40-year-old pastor from Minnesota.

Milwaukee,  Wisconsin - On Thursday, Jose M. Silva, 23, was sentenced to 18 years in prison that included 12 years of confinement and 6 years supervision for one felony count of homicide use of a vehicle with PAC (prohibited alcohol concentration) in the death of Aaron M. Strong, 40, originally from South Saint Paul, Minnesota on October 12, 2022. Strong was the associate Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.

According to the criminal complaint, Silva while driving intoxicated on October 12, 2022, ran a red light at the 1000 block of W. Wells St. in Milwaukee striking Strong's vehicle. Strong sustained critical injuries in the crash and was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Silva was taken into custody at the crash scene. Police learned during the investigation that Silva while intoxicated was speeding at the time and was heading to the Milwaukee County Court House for jury duty, but he was running late. Witnesses told police that they saw Silva driving in an accelerated speed of 75 to 80 MPH and he went through multiple stop lights until he struck Strong's vehicle causing severe injuries to the driver who later died.
