Solages and five other suspects pretenting to be DEA agents infiltrated the Haitian President Moïse's residence and killed him and wounded his wife, Martine Moise, according to Haitian authorities.

Port-au-Prince, Haiti - On Wednesday, Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, 53, was assassinated on early Wednesday at his presidential residence by at least 15 heavily armed assailants dressed in all black assault gear including Olivier Gertan, Joseph Vincent, 55, a U.S. Citizen of Haitian descent and James Solages, 35, a U.S. Citizen of Haitian descent from South Florida who were taken into custody, according to Mathias Pierre, Haiti's minister of elections and inter-party relations. Four other suspects were killed in a confrontation with police on Wednesday night. Nine more assailants are being sought by authorities.
13 of those arrested are from Colombia and are former army military veterans. 11 of the suspected assailants were taken into custody by Haitian police at the Taiwan embassy compound, the Taiwan officials at the embassy confirmed.
Four Colombian suspects were identified as Alejandro Girardo Zapata, 41; John Jairo Ramirez Gomez, 40; Victor Albeiro Pinera Cardona, 40, and Manuel Antonio Groso Guarin, 41.
Haitian authorities say that the group of assailants had falsely posed as U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents to gain entry to Moise's presidential residence.
Bocchit Edmond, the Haitian Ambassador to the U.S. reported that the assailants in the assassination were foreign mercenaries and professional killer who pretended to be U.S. DEA agents that were well financed to carry out their objective.
Edmond also says that the assailants had helped from inside Haiti and are investigating to learn who mastermind and financed the assassination plot.
Solages was the chief commander of body guards for the Canadian embassy in Haiti.
Update: Haiti's National Police confirmed on Friday that at least 19 suspects have been arrested since Wednesday and 17 are from Colombia and 2 are U.S. Citizens with Haitian descent.
