Esteban Alba-Guerrero Charged For Milwaukee Southside Wrong Way Fatal S. 27th Street Crash While Intoxicated


Alba-Guerrero was allegedly speeding while under the influence of alcohol and driving northbound on southbound street lanes, which ended in a fatal crash when he struck a vehicle heading south on S. 27th Street killing a 27-year-old passenger and injuring a 37-year-old driver.

Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, Esteban Alba-Guerrero, 21, was charged with three felony counts for homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle (if convicted, facing up to 25 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines), homicide by use of vehicle with PAC (facing up to 25 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines) and injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle (facing up to 12 years and 6 months in prison and up to $25,000 in fines) for the December 3 wrongway crash at the 2700 block of S. 27th Street. Alba-Guerrero's cash bond was set at $75,000.
According to the police criminal complaint, Milwaukee Police responded to a fatal crash that happened around 5:55 a.m. on December 3 in the 2700 block of S. 27th Street. Alba-Guerreo was driving a 2005 Acura TL northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic at a high rate of speed. The Acura struck a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that was driven by a 37-year-old man. A passenger of the Hyundai, Rafael Rojas-Prado, 27, died at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Alba-Guerrero, the driver of the Acura was taken into custody and also hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to family members, Rojas-Prado received a Visa and was visiting his family in Milwaukee after he graduated from a university and received a degree in Engineering in Mexico. He was originally from Tres Valles, Veracruz, Mexico. His family is trying to raise funds to send Rojas-Prado's body back to Mexico for burial.
