Multiple Shots Fired Damaging Several Vehicles In Milwaukee's Southside, No Injuries Reported

Police investigating multiple shots fired along S. 5th Place and W. Arthur Avenue late Friday. A drug war between gang factions for control of distribution and territory has recently ignited in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee, WI - On Friday, suspects in a four door vehicle shot at least 23 bullets striking several vehicles along the 2400 block of S. 5th Place near W. Arthur Avenue in the Southside of Milwaukee, according to police. Police say the shooting was reported just after 10:35 p.m. and no one was reported injured in the area.
Police continue to investigate the shooting and 23 spent shell casings including from a 9mm and 40 Caliber weapons were recovered.
On Thursday, Za'Layia Jenkins, 9, was critically injured around 8:20 p.m. by a stray bullet when it struck her in the head near the 1500 block of W. Meinecke Avenue in the Northside of Milwaukee. According to police, several groups of suspects began to exchange gunfire with each other with rifles and handguns. In that incident, 40 spent shell casings from various calibers were recovered.
Jenkins remains in a life support machine and is not responding to treatment. Her family has made arrangements to donate her organs once her life supports are removed.
