Waukesha, WI - On Saturday, Waukesha County Deputy Sheriff Jay R. Dunston, 52, stopped three Latinos inside the Bob and Rocco's gunshow at the Waukesha Expo Center and allegedly claimed that someone complained that they were attempting to buy guns with fake identification. He later explained that someone said, the Latinos were trying to exchange ID's while attempting to buy guns, but Deputy Dunston wouldn't identify who made the complaint about the Latinos stopped inside the gunshow.
The Latinos are now accusing Deputy Dunston of profiling Hispanics, requesting identification from them and holding the ID's to check for warrants. One of the Latinos asked Deputy Dunston to identify who complained, so that they could avoid purchasing anything from that person or vendor at the gunshow. Deputy Dunston refused to identify who made the frivolous complaint, giving reason to believe that Deputy Dunston made false allegations and engaged in profiling.
The Latinos, which one of them is a tourist from Guatemala now says that he felt humiliated and everyone was staring while the incident took place. Deputy Dunston didn't even apologize for the mishap and his profiling behavior at the gunshow. The tourist from Guatemalan said, he was not happy about what happened while at the gunshow and later admitted that he won't be returning to Waukesha.
Deputy Dunston was assisted by a Waukesha County Motorcycle Sheriff deputy.

 Update:

On November 28, 2018, Jay R. Dunston, 54, was cited in Waukesha County for Hunting with improper license-R (State Statue 29.024(1)) by a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officer and was found guilty due to no contest plea and was fined $222.90. Former Waukesha County Sheriff Deputy Dunston retired from the  Waukesha County Sheriff's Department in 2018, according to Waukesha County employee records.

On April 2016, Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson when contacted twice by e-mail and through the Waukesha County Sheriff Department's Facebook account page did not respond or made any comments regarding Waukesha County Sheriff Deputy J. Dunston's false allegations and profiling Latinos.
Also, when contacted via e-mail, Paul Farrow, the Waukesha County executive and the County Board failed to respond as well about Deputy Dunston's false allegations that Latinos were attempting to buy weapons with fake ID's at the Bob and Rocco's gun show where Dunston allegedly engaged in a profiling incident targeting Hispanics.

In 2017, Voces de la Frontera, an immigrant rights organization from Milwaukee in a letter of opposition sent to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties cited this article concerning a profiling Latinos incident by Sheriff Deputy Jay R. Dunston from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office, which the department had filed an application for the 287g ICE program. (PDF) https://bit.ly/3wpw18j
