The Milwaukee Police Department identified three male suspects connected to 5-year-old Laylah Petersen's homicide.

Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Fynn announced that three suspects, Paul T. Farr, 24, Arlis W. Gordon, 23, and Carl L. Barrett Jr., 20, were charged on Monday in connection with the November 6, 2014 homicide of 5-year-old Laylah C. Petersen. Petersen was shot twice in the head as she sat in her grandfather's lap inside a home at the 5000 block of N. 58th Street. Chief Flynn stated during a press conference that a tip from an associate of the suspects led to their arrest. A $35K reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect or suspects in Petersen's homicide.
Farr was charged with with two felony counts for harboring/aiding a felon and is facing 10 years in prison, including up to $25K in fines for each count, if convicted. Farr's bail was set at $10K cash. Both Gordon and Barrett Jr. were charged with one felony count each for first-degree reckless homicide and with one count enhancer each for possession of a dangerous weapon by a felon and party to a crime. Gordon and Barrett Jr. each is facing up to 60 years in prison for the reckless homicide and 5 years each for the weapons possession, if convicted. Barrett Jr.'s bail was set at $250K cash and Gordon is awaiting extradition to Wisconsin. He was taken into custody in Chicago by police in Illinois on a Wisconsin felony murder warrant.
According to the criminal complaint, Farr drove both Gordon and Barrett Jr. to the 5000 block of N.58th Street where they both shot up a home by mistake and killed Petersen instead. The intended target was another male, Jaquan Howard, 20, who was acquitted by a jury for the murder of Gordon's brother on November 6, 2014. Gordon was upset about Howard's acquittal and wanted to shoot up Howard's and his girlfriend's home, which her home was located about four blocks from Petersen's home.
