Auburn, Alabama - On Friday, Claudia Jordan, an actress for Real Housewives of Atlanta, a Bravo Reality TV show was kicked out of the Auburn Mall, formerly the Village Mall by White security guards claiming that it was prohibited for people to wear sunglasses inside while shopping. Jordan and her entourage, including R&B singer Ginuwine were escorted out of the mall because Jordan refused to remove her sunglasses when shopping at the mall. Jordan and her group took videos of the incident and she posted on her Instagram and Twitter citing that there were no signs of sunglasses being prohibited at the mall. Jordan's entourage did noticed White people walking into and out of the mall wearing sunglasses.
Jordan posted on her Instagram account, "What kind of BS us this?!!!!! This was the second security guard that the other white security guard sent to "handle us" after the first one harassed us 1 minute after we walked thru the door of the AUBURN mall. He followed us demanding I take my sunglasses off. There were no signs stating "sunglasses were prohibited" this was so blatant. I thought it was a joke at first then shit got real."
"Never go to the Auburn Mall if you're a minority and you chose to wear sun glasses. Clearly it's against the law if you are black. Meanwhile we saw 2 white women and a white man wearing sunglasses who were not harassed or even approached. There were no signs saying that sun glasses were not allowed. Please do NOT tell me racism is dead. I'm a classy, educated woman with no criminal record simply wanting to shop in the local mall who was harassed by punk ass mall security and police were called. The message is clear- our KIND was not welcomed here and they are willing to use any excuse to get us all the way up outta there. Way to go Auburn Mall!," Jordan posted.
Jordan claims they were racially profiled and discriminated just because they are Afro-American. A Black security guard at the mall told Jordan unless she had a medical condition, she couldn't wear sunglasses, according to the mall owner. Mall security called local police to the scene.
Jordan and Ginuwine are now calling for people and minorities to boycott the mall for profiling Afro-Americans and discriminating against them.
The Auburn Mall is owned by Hull Storey Gibson Companies. They have not released a statement concerning the boycott of the mall by Jordan and incident by security mall guards.
The Jordan Auburn Mall videos have been seen by nearly 2M people and are going viral on social media.
