Houston, Texas -  On Saturday, thousands of Tejanos and Tejano music enthusiasts gathered along the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) parade route holding up signs calling for the GO Tejano Committee to include top Tejano bands and conjuntos at their major event arena during Go Tejano Day on Sunday, March 15 instead of continuing to phase out the music from the annual rodeo event. In the last 8 years, the HLSR has not allowed top known Tejano artists to share the stage with other Latino music genre artists during the "Go Tejano" day at the rodeo major events.
An estimated 40 percent of the Tejano population is concentrated in Houston alone and many of them do volunteer their services at the HLSR, a non-profit organization that reported more than $117M in revenues per year. Tejanos who volunteer at the HLSR do spend money during the event, but the HLSR has not included Tejano music at the NRG arena for years. Tejano bands and conjuntos are placed in outdoor stages indicating that they are less appealing to the HLSR for generating funds in ticket sales and those attending the rodeo event. Tejanos disagree with the HLSR position to discriminate against their music, including culture and say that Tejano music is popular. In most days during the rodeo events, Tejanos do make the second largest attendence at the rodeo.
José Vega, one of the protest organizers from Tejano Heritage Alliance during a press conference on Saturday said, that more demonstrations and other events are being planned to bring attention to the HLSR discriminatory practice not to book Tejano bands or conjuntos during the Go Tejano day at the Houston rodeo.
The HLSR annual event became Ground Zero for the resurgence of Tejano music at the Houston rodeo. Major corporations sponsor the HLSR event and unfortunately none have stepped forward to sponsor top Tejano artists for their consumers of products during the Go Tejano day at the arena.

Muhammed Emwazi, aka, Jihadi John Wanted Dead or Alive

Wanted dead or alive, Jihadi John, the ISIS executioner unmasked as Muhammed Emwazi who beheaded multiple victims on videos.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

February 27, 2015

Washington, D.C. - On Thursday, both the Washington Post and BBC reported that Jihadi John was actually Muhammed Emwazi, 26, aka, Muhammad ibn Muazzam born in Kuwait and a British national who lived in West London. Sky News obtained Emwazi's University of Westminster education records with his student photo from 2006 to 2009 and was released to media outlets in London, which ran in front page news.
Emwazi who is Wanted Dead or Alive first appeared in an ISIS video on August where he beheaded American journalist James Foley, then in the beheadings of American journalist Steven Sotloff, American aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig also known as Peter, British national and aid worker David Haines, British taxi driver Alan Henning, Japanese freelance journalist Kenji Goto and appeared in an ISIS video where 21 Syrian soldiers were beheaded as well.
It was previously believe that Jihadi John was Adel Majed Abdel Bary, 24, of London another known ISIS terrorist, but now media outlets are reporting that he was not. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) knew who Jihadi John was back in September and wouldn't confirm it was Emwazi. British intelligence also knew Emwazi was the ISIS terrorist Jihadi John and decided not to confirm his identity until Thursday when it was reported by multiple media sources.
Emwazi got the name John from hostages who nickname him and two other British ISIS terrorists as Jorge and Ringo for their British accents, which later the trio became known as the Beatles. Their nicknames were later known after a hostage was released and told government officials the aliases of their captors.
The ISIS British terrorists Jorge and Ringo have yet to be identified. Emwazi is now wanted in 6 nations for beheading or murdering their nationals.
ISIS has been conducting mass executions of Christians, civilians and soldiers. They even burned alive a Jordanian pilot in a cage and are threatening to burn children in a cage.
In a recent video from ISIS, children are shown with weapons and are being (forced) trained as terrorists.
Recent information from Iraq indicates that ISIS is mass murdering victims to harvest their organs to sell on the black market to fund their terrorist operations. Other unconfirmed information circulating in the social networks indicate that ISIS terrorists have been eating human parts and drinking human blood from the victims they kill due to lack of food supplies to feed the terrorists or as a ritual to make them invincible and to spread worldwide terror.
ISIS forces or affiliates who are about 500 miles from Italy are planning to invade or infiltrate Rome to behead Catholic Pope Francis and Christians at the Vatican.
More than 150 Assyrians from Christian villages in Syrian were recently abducted by ISIS and are destine to be executed or have been already executed. In one report, dozens of women, children and elderly were killed and then burned. In one recent ISIS video, 21 Egyptian workers were beheaded and another previous video showed male Christians being shot individually and thrown into a river.
Some Western countries targeted by ISIS do not allow their citizens to own or have weapons making it easy for terrorists to kill unarmed civilians. Especially today, when sleeper terrorists cells are lurking among large unsuspecting populations.
The ISIS terrorism and mass murders continue in Libya, Iraq and Syria today under the belief to kill Christians, which is not a true religious practice by other Islamic groups who condemn ISIS for their extremist mass murders conducted under their Islamic religion.

Governor Walker's UW-System Proposed Budget Eliminates Sexual Assault Reporting On Campus

All employees and faculty at the UW-System will no longer be required to report sexual assaults to the dean of students, legislature and the Wisconsin Department of Justice, according to Governor Walker's proposed budget.

Madison, WI - Governor Scott Walker's (R) proposed 2015-2017 budget to cut $300M from the UW-System also eliminates the requirement to provide oral, written or electronic information about sexual assault to freshman during orientation including all students about how to report such crimes. The budget also would prevent anyone employed by the university or college who witness a sexual assault or any student reporting such a crime to an employee from reporting sexual assaults to the dean of students. It would also prevent the universities from reporting methods implemented full filling the requirement to report such crimes to the legislature and would eliminate sexual assault statistics from student acquaintances committed on campus to be included in reports. Any sexual assault statistics from previous years or current would not be required to be reported to the Wisconsin Department of Justice to be included in their crime reports.

Walker's UW-System Budget text eliminating the requirement to report sexual assaults or provide information during orientation of new students at universities and college campuses.

25. DELETE LANGUAGE RELATED TO SEXUAL ASSAULT INFORMATION AND REPORTING

Governor: Delete the requirement that the Board direct each institution and college campus to incorporate oral and written or electronic information on sexual assault in its orientation program for newly entering students and to supply all students enrolled in the institution or college campus with the same information in either printed or electronic form.

Delete the requirement that the Board of Regents submit an annual report to the Legislature regarding the methods used to comply with the above requirement.

Delete the requirement that any person employed at an institution who witnesses a sexual assault on campus or receives a report from a student enrolled in the institution that the student has been sexually assaulted report the assault to the dean of students.

Delete the requirement that each institution report annually to the Department of Justice (DOJ) statistics on sexual assaults and on sexual assaults committed by acquaintances of the victims that occurred on the campus of that institution in the previous years, and that DOJ include those statistics in appropriate crime reports.

[Bill Section: 1171]

64-page UW-System budget download Link (PDF): http://1.usa.gov/1DhF6wO

Update: The USA Today reported that a UW Spokesman Alex Hummel said, that the UW had asked Governor Walker to remove the requirements from the proposed two year budget for reporting sexual assaults because federal law already requires it to provide the information to the U.S. Department of Education and reporting to the state would be a duplication.
Isn't the Wisconsin State Legislature who funds the UW-System and shouldn't they get the information, including students who pay tuition at the universities be able to report and get orientation about sexual assaults?, interesting concept to keep sexual assault reports from the state and the WIDOJ.

138 Mexican Altiplano Inmates Including Drug Lords Filed Complaint For Bad Prison Conditions

Spoiled food, smelly mattresses, lack of exercise, unhealthy holding cells, limited access to phone calls and gross inappropriate search procedures done to visitors are a few of the alleged human rights violation complaint filed by 138 Altiplano prison inmates including Joaquín Guzmán Loera, aka, "El Chapo" and other drug lords held at the maximum security prison.

Mexico, D.F. - On Wednesday, 138 Altiplano maximum security prison inmates including Joaquín Guzmán Loera, aka, "El Chapo" of the Sinaloa Cartel filed a human rights violation complaint registered number 19066 with the Mexican National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) alleging the prison warden and staff of corruption and committing human rights violations. The 11-page hand written complaint to the MNHRC claims that the inmates including multiple drug lords, kidnappers and murders held at the prison, including Edgar Valdez Villareal, aka, "La Barbie," Héctor Beltran Leyva, aka, "El H," Abel Valadez Uribe from La Familia Michoacana, Ramiro Rangel Soto from the Gulf Cartel and Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo of the Guadalajara Cartel claim that they are given spoiled food (beans with stones, chicken with worms), sleep in dirty and smelly mattresses, lack of exercise, kept in unhealthy holding cells, have controlled and limited access to phone calls, only allowed one hour of solar powered light and gross inappropriate search procedures done to visitors are just a few of the alleged human rights violations conducted by prison staff and guards. In addition, they claim that they only get one hour limit at the outdoor prison yard, they get inadequate medical care, have no social or exercising activities and the prison store is not operated efficiently.
A medical prison staff member, "Areli" treats them like animals and is the prison technical director, Librado Carmona García's girlfriend. García is accused of charging inmates money for favors and shares the bribes with other directors of the prison system.
Inmates are allowed to spend $664 pesos ($51 U.S.) per month and they say, that the amount is not enough to buy hygiene products and powder soap to wash and etc. The prison store needs to have a larger variety of products for the inmates need for healthy hygiene, according to the human rights violation complaint.
That the prison conjugal visiting rooms or sections for private visits have no running cold and hot water, bathrooms and sinks are broken and not working, water pipes leak, beds not suitable for inmates and partners to have intimate visits, the inmates filed complaint alleged.
The inmates believe that once their human rights violation complaint is made public, they expect for the prison warden and staff to take reprisals against all of the inmates at Altiplano prison.
Seven months ago, the inmates and drug lords had a hunger strike to bring attention to their mistreatment, bad food and unhealthy conditions at the prison.
A copy of the 11-page inmate complaint was received by the Nayarit online dot MX and it published the inmates allegations on Thursday.

Washington, D.C. - On Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to keep the Internet neutral and free, despite lobbying to allow servers like Verizon and various portals through which users are getting their information over the Internet from becoming gatekeepers and to charge different rates to different Web sites, President Barack H. Obama announced. Obama stated, "More than 4 million people wrote to the FCC, overwhelmingly in support for a free and fair internet. Countless others spoke out on social media, petition their government and stood up for what they believe" resulting in a neutral and free Internet.
Obama says, that he called on the FCC to adopt strong and fair rules to allow net neutrality and for Internet service providers (ISPs) to treat all internet traffic equally. The FCC voted to keep the net neutral.
● In May 2010, the FCC introduces strong net neutrality protections that said internet service providers could not block websites or impose limits on users.
● In December, the FCC would go on to pass a final version, adopting their first-ever rules to regulate Internet access.
● In January 2011, just weeks after the FCC adopted their rules, Verizon Communications filed a federal lawsuit that would eventually overturn the order.
● In January 14, 2014, a Federal Appeals Court strikes down the FCC's 2010 rule.

Milwaukee Heat Wave Allows Man To Walk Naked Along S. Chávez Drive

With frigid and negative wind chill factors temperarily gone in the Milwaukee Southside, people driving along S. César E. Chávez Drive noticed a naked man walking along the strip on Sunny 30 plus degree temperatures.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, an unidentified naked man was spotted around 12:25 p.m. taking a stroll along the S. César E. Chávez Drive enduring upper 30 degree plus weather and 7 degree windchills. In the last several days, temperature were reported in the single degits and negative windchill factors making it difficult to enjoy the Winter outdoors due to an Artic cold blast.
Several photos of the naked man on Chávez Drive were posted by Almestica Thangz in Facebook (AT-FB), which began to circulate on the social network. The naked man's photos were tagged to the AT-FB account by another friend, according to AT-FB.
Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) checked police public reports, FB Milwaukee Police Source page, its police blogger and no mention, if the man was actually located by police to see, if he needed help and whether he was suffering from dementia, mental disability or any other disability.
LeStencia Vallejo, a witness told HNNUSA that, she saw him walking towards W. Greenfield Ave. and he started walking back towards W. Lapham. She went to her house and got some pants, t-shirt and a pair of shoes. "I walked and met him towards W. Greenfield Ave. and tried to give him the clothes and he grabbed them. I offered him shoes and he said, he was wearing shoes. He had nothing on! He then tossed the clothes into the snow. I grabbed them and followed him towards W. Lapham. As I was following him 2 police cars pulled up and stopped him. The police were going to put a blanket on him, but the police didn't have one so I gave the officers the clothes and shoes and left. I dont think he was mentally sound. He was just repeating everything I said to him and when the police asked, if he was ok, he just repeated the question back to them. I hope he got help," Vallejo said. Another friend saw the man earlier near W. Michell St., according to Vallejo.
Romeo Rivera also witnessed the naked man incident and says, that he and Vallejo were coming from a local store when they spotted the man walking without clothes. At first, Rivera thought it was some kind of joke, but when he realized that the man showed that he had a mental disability, he decided to quickly go with Vallejo to her home and get some clothes for the helpless man. The naked man wouldn't take the clothes and threw them to the snow, but police arrived to deal with the situation, according to Rivera. If the man would have walked out naked it in the past few days, he might not have survived the frigid Artic cold weather that hit Milwaukee.

Christopher Wiken Seeking To Replace Alderman Terry Witkowski In 2016 Over Street Car Vote

Milwaukee, WI - On Monday, businessman Christopher Wiken, 45, owner of the Packing Housing Restaurant announced in the Stop the Milwaukee Street Car Facebook page that he is a viable candidate for alderman and is challenging incumbent Alderman Terry L. Witkowski from the 13 Aldermanic District in the 2016 election. Wiken says that Ald. Witkowski failed to listen and return calls from his constituency in the district who were opposed to the $124M Street Car Project. After numerous attempts to contact Ald. Witkowski, he never responded or returned calls concerning the Street Car issue, according to Wiken.
The Milwaukee Common Council voted 9-6 to approved the Street Car Project and Ald. Witkowski voted in favor.
Wiken stated, "The voters of the district deserve an elected official who represents their interests, understands the needs of their community, will listen to them and not be bullied by outside interests. Many of Milwaukee's elected representatives were "tone deaf" to the needs of the city and its voters."
Wiken added, Milwaukee's high crime rate, furloughing of police officers, brown-outs of firefighters, streets cratered with potholes and a public school system which fails to achieve a satisfactory graduation rate amongst issues are more important to the city than a "downtown trolley route."
Wiken at the age of 18 became a St. Francis Alderman.

Loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson Found By Inmate At MCHOC In Franklin

Milwaukee County House of Corrections inmate in the laundry section discovered a loaded 9mm Caliber handgun, according to Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr.

By H. Nelson Goodson

February 23, 2015

Franklin, WI - On Monday - Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele in a press release confirmed that a 9mm Caliber Smith and Wesson semiautomatic loaded hand gun with eight bullets in the magazine and one in the chamber was found at the Milwaukee County House of Corrections (MCHOC) by correctional staff personnel. Abele's press release stated, "Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele applauds the quick action of correctional personnel at the Milwaukee County House of Correction (HOC) when they discovered a loaded gun in the dirty laundry that was sent from the County Jail – which is run by the Sheriff's Office. The HOC provides laundry cleaning services for a number of County entities, including the County jail.
The incident is under investigation, but it appears the weapon was snuck into the County jail late last week by an inmate who then stashed the weapon in dirty laundry. Per usual procedure, that laundry was sent this morning to the HOC for cleaning. Indications are that the Sheriff's Office was looking for the weapon, but they never alerted the HOC," according to Abele.
The corrections staff reported the weapon to the State Department of Corrections and a search on the FBI's National Crime Information Center showed that the weapon had been reported stolen.
Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. in response to Abele's inaccurate information, Clarke says that the handgun was actually found by an inmate assigned to the laundry detail at the MCHOC and not by correction officers as Abele first indicated. Sheriff Clarke praised the inmate "for doing the right thing" by reporting the loaded weapon to correction officers at the MCHOC. Clarke admitted that he was glad the inmate made the right choice and if someone else would have found it, things might have gone differently.
Clarke and Abele say, that an ongoing investigation is trying to determine how the weapon by-passed security check point procedures. Clarke says, that Milwaukee police had arrested a suspect with a leg cast and then took him to the hospital to get checked for a medical issue concerning his leg.
After the hospital treatment, police returned the suspect to the Milwaukee County jail for booking and processing. The suspect had no access to the dirty laundry section at the jail, according to Clarke.

Milwaukee Street Car Petition Drive Has Collected Over 25K Of 35K Signatures Needed For Referendum

Major community rally and gathering at Serb Hall on Monday to push for final campaign to get the required signatures to force a referendum for the Street Car opposition.

February 22, 2015

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Sunday, Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) has learned that organizers for a petition signature drive to force a referendum question about the Street Car controversy have almost reached their projected goal. According to a Street Car petition drive organizer, the group has collected more than 25,000 signatures of their 35,000 projected goal, but only need the required 31,000 valid signatures. The deadline to turn in the signatures is March 2.
Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan will hold a community gathering and rally to Stop the Street Car on Monday, February 23 at Serb Hall, 5101 W. Oklahoma Ave. from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Milwaukee. Ald. Donovan reported that on Saturday alone, about 1,800 signatures were collected by a couple (Bill and Leslie) from Colgate who came to Milwaukee and helped circulated the petition.
The Milwaukee Common Council on February 10 passed the Street Car measure by a 9-6 vote. The Street Car Project will cost $124M for the 2.5 mile proposed route.
South side Alderman José G. Pérez was among eight other aldermen who voted in favor to move forward on the Street Car Project. Three other Aldermen, Joe Davis, T. Anthony Zielinski and Bob Donovan voted along with three other aldermen to oppose the project. Alderman Zielinski claimed that the city will have to borrow at least $69M and will end up paying the loan for $105M assuming that no cost over run occurs. But Zielinski suggested that a $27M open cost is expected and an estimated $996M or nearly $1B will be the cost for the project on the long run. He wanted to go record that he mentioned the projected costs, so that in the future, those aldermen who voted in favor would later say, they didn't know it would cost that much to taxpayers.
Two downtown districts, Cathedral Square and Erie Street will see an increase of property taxes to help pay for the Street Car project.

Mexican Federal Senator Layda Elena Sansores San Román Runs For Governor Of Campeche

Senator Sansores San Román in November exposed Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto as a terrorist, inept, coward, corrupt, running a narco-goverment, involved in money laundering, bribery and using the military and Federal Police to commit crimes and murders along with drug cartels.

Campeche, Mexico - On Sunday, Mexican federal Senator Layda Elena Sansores San Román from Campeche will received the nomination of her political party to run for Governor. She filed her candidacy for Governor of the State of Campeche, under the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) political party. It will be her third attempt to run for Governor. She is facing five candidates for Governor.
In November 25, 2014, Senator Sansores San Román from the Labor Party made national headlines during a Senate speech calling for President Enrique Peña Nieto (PRI) to resign and exposed him as a terrorist, inept, coward, corruption, engaging in cover-ups, running a narco-goverment, involved in money laundering, bribery and using the military and Federal Police to commit crimes and murders along with drug cartels against the people. Senator Sansores San Román proposed to create a plural commission of Senators to investigate the allegations raised in 2014 by the Peña Nieto's White House multi-million property scandal, the Ayotzinapa missing students and the November 20 violence sparked by government paid agitators during a peaceful protest calling for justice for the missing students.
She said, Peña Nieto is inept because he has failed to handle the recent crisis (Ayotzinapa's 43 missing students and mass murder/White House scandal, a property given to the president and his wife by a company (associated with Televisa) who received government contracts), instead of finding solutions, he looks to blame someone else; a coward, because he sent his wife to answer for the multi-million White House scandal instead of him addressing the issue, including ordering the military and police to quash the peaceful protest of citizens on November 20, 2014, and for the Secretary of the Military and Marines to comply with Peña Nieto's orders to oppress the right of sovereign Mexican citizens to protest government corruption. As she spoke, most of the PRI party Senators left the Senate floor. Sansores San Román told them, you are all leaving simply because you can't handle the truth, don't worry, you can view my presentation later on the Congressional TV broadcast, and I will send it to you through Twitter.
She continued, Peña Nieto is corrupt, because he failed to report his personal and his wife's financial gains, including a White House gift to them by a private company who received multi-million government contracts by the state of Mexico and has even cover-up for some corrupt high profile officials. Peña Nieto has engaged in conflict of interest as well involving family members and a private company that received a state of Mexico government contract involving the remodeling of the airport and a federal multi-million contract for a fast track train project, which was later revoked by Peña Nieto's administration after the White House scandal broke.
Peña Nieto has announced that the White House is up for sale, but Sansores San Román said, it doesn't relieve Peña Nieto from getting charged with criminal charges for conflict of interest, cover-up, subordination, corruption, accepting bribes, and the financial system that Peña Nieto used to hide elicit transactions resulting in money laundering.
Senator Sansores San Román says, the Peña Nieto administration and the military, including the Federal Police were corrupt, oppressors of free speech by having military and police agitators to infiltrate a peaceful protest to cause kaos and having the government involved in mass murders and missing people. Sen. Sansores San Román alleged Peña Nieto operates a hypocrite and narco-goverment.
Senator Miguel Romo Medina from Aguascalientes, a members of the Senate PRI party attempted to stop Sen. Sansores San Román in November from speaking by alleging  that her presentation to create a commission to investigate the president and his wife concerning the White House bribery scandal was not included in the agenda and requested a call for quorum, but the Senate president confirmed it was included in the agenda and allowed Sansores San Román to finish her presentation as some PRI party senators left the Senate floor in protest, she accused them of not having the guts to hear the truth.

Houston Ground Zero For Tejano Music Resurgence At Livestock Show And Rodeo Event

A protest and march planned against organizers of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo upcoming event for not including Tejano music at their major event arena.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

February 20, 2015

Houston, Texas - Tejano music enthusiasts (TME) in Houston have announced that a major protest and march will take place on Saturday, February 28, at 9:30 a.m. at the City Hall Reflection Pond. The protest is being organized by José Vega, William Morris and Melissa Flores who posted a "Houston Rodeo Protest" Facebook page and more than 359 people and students, including Tejano/Conjunto artists, musicians and known singers are planning to attend. The protest was organized against the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) Board/Executive Committee who decided not to include Tejano music at their major arena venue for the March 3 to 22 event.
The major TME protest, which coincides with the HLSR Saturday's parade in Houston has become Ground Zero for the resurgence of Tejano music at the HLSR event.
Tejanos and Tejano music enthusiasts are taking a stand and are speaking out against the HLSR discriminatory decision not to show case Tejano music in its main venue.
Over the weekend, Oscar de la Rosa, the lead singer for La Mafia band made news after a video circulated on the social networks targeting the HLSR for not including Tejano music at the major arena. De la Rosa had a few words to say to the HLSR, "...F_ck Them...I feel that there is some f_cking asshole there that is so anti-Tejano, you know what I'm saying..." The ear catching remarks were made by De la Rosa at the El Dorado St. Valentine's Day dance that drew an over capacity crowd and lines of fans outside trying to get into the dance.
In 1991, La Mafia was featured at the HLSR major event arena and broke the audience attendence record drawing more than 55,000 fans. In the last seven years, the HLSR has failed to add a Tejano headliner in the major or main stage at the arena resulting in criticism and protests. The HLSR allows Tejano music on the side because it doesn't attract revenue, but Tejanos attending the 19-day event and Cook-off do spend money at the event and do support funding for student scholarships, but the HLSR discriminates against the very people (Tejanos) it depends to generate funding.
The HLSR released a statement that they do include Spanish language or Mexican bands, but failed to mention that Tejano/Conjunto music was actually excluded from the main concert event arena once again.
The protest is generating support from Tejanos and Tejano music enthusiasts in the tri-county area and is spreading to other parts of Texas as well. The organizers of the protest say, that they are now working to contact sponsors of the HLSR to let them know that as consumers of their products, they shouldn't be discriminated by the same group (HLSR) that they sponsor.
The protest supporters are also concentrating in boycotting the HLSR pre-party Houston Rodeo Cook-off, which runs from February 26 thru the 28. If most of the Tejano participants at the Rodeo Cook-off boycott the event, it will cause a major economic loss and setback for the HLSR.
The HLSR controversy even resulted with Univision 45 news commentator Laura Sierra to say, like Tejano music is no longer popular, como quien dice "La musica Tejana ya no pega." Well, Sierra missed the crowd at the El Dorado indicating que Tejano music si pega (Tejano music is alive and kicking)!

Editors note: The difference today between Tejano music and other music genres that the HLSR should consider in making their decision to keep Tejano music outside of the major arena lineup is that Tejano music doesn't proliferate on drugs, gangs, murders or drug cartels. La Mafia Singer Says "F_ck You" To Organizers Of The Go Tejano Day Livestock And Rodeo Show

The lead singer of La Mafia Tejano band lashed out on Saturday at organizers of the Houston "Go Tejano Day Livestock And Rodeo Show" for not allowing Tejano music at the major arena event.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

February 18, 2015

Houston, Texas - On Saturday, Oscar de la Rosa, the lead singer of La Mafia finally spoke out and told the organizers (the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) Board/Executive Committee) of the Go Tejano Day Livestock And Rodeo Show to "F_ck You" for not allowing Tejano music at this year's major arena event. The HLSR event starts March 3 thru 22, 2015.
De la Rosa in a video that circulated on social networks during Saturday's St. Valentine's Dance at the El Dorado Club in front of a packed house said, "I feel that there is some f_cking asshole there that is so anti-Tejano, you know what I'm saying...I only have one thing to say, F_ck Them. I don't give a f_ck, if I never do the rodeo, F_ck Them, F_ck Them. You know why, because if I don't do the rodeo, that's not going to change my f_cking life, I'm still going to do what I do. To the people of the rodeo livestock, F_ck You, kiss my mother f_cking Mexican ass or would that be, kiss my Tejano f_cking ass. I'm serious...I just have to let that out and to express myself. I'm so tired, I'm so tired of people expressing themselves and we never say anything, as Latinos we never say nothing and keep our mouths shut, it's time for us to speak out and time for us to stand our ground and say what we feel."
The organizers of the HLSR event have phased out Tejano music in the last three to four years and has ignited protests from Tejano music enthusiasts and an online petition has even been started. The Tejano petition says, "...The HLSR board claims that it's mission is to serve all ethnic groups that make up the Houston area but when it comes to Tejanos they seem to ignore them, although we make up a large portion of Houston's area population. This change can make an positive impact on any child to defend the values, culture, and education. Please join, support and help us bring Tejano music back to The Major arena so it could continue to be an American tradition." More than 3,000 have signed the petition.
The organizers of the event say that they still used the "GO Tejano Day" theme and included other Hispanic music except the dominant Tejano (Tex-Mex) style of music heard throughout Texas.
The Go Tejano Day organizers released the following statement, "The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo proudly celebrates the Hispanic heritage of Texas in all of its many facets on Go Tejano Day. "Go Tejano" has never been specific to one genre of music-it's a play on our popular "Go Texan" slogan which was created in the 1950s..."
De la Rosa including many Tejano style fans disagree and believe that they're being discriminated, people should speak up and send e-mails to the Go Tejano Day organizers for them to reconsider and add a Tejano music venue as well. De la Rosa indicated that it's okay for Tejanos to participate at the rodeo event, but Tejano music is not allowed at the major arena.
Grupo Fuerte in the petition comments to bring back Tejano music to the major arena made the following statement that could boycott and trigger an economic impact for the HLSR, " Everyone is looking at boycotting the Rodeo Concert. Truth be told our biggest support right now is in the Houston Rodeo Cook-Off. Tejano cooking teams are some of the biggest supporters of the Rodeo Cook-Off. If we can have all the cooking teams that are True Tejanos come together to Boycott the Cook-Off then you'll truly hit them where it hurts and maybe open their eyes to how much support Tejanos bring to the Houston Rodeo. I know a lot of these cooking teams work hard all year long to get to The Houston Rodeo Cook-Off but why support an organization that doesn't give any support back to us Tejanos? Cooking Teams, make your voices heard and help bring Tejano Music back to The Rodeo!"
Jose Vega from Houston announced on the "Houston Rodeo Protest" Facebook page that a major protest against the HLSR decision not to include Tejano music at their major arena will take place on Saturday, February 28, at 9:30 a.m. at the City Hall Refection Pond. More than 359 people and students around the city are planning to attend. Support for the HLSR protest and march is spreading throughout the tri-county area and attendence is expected to increase.

Houston's Fire Marshal shuts down La Mafia venue for over capacity.

HNNUSA Update: Oscar de la Rosa from La Mafia band was also upset that the Houston Fire Marshal closed down the venue at the El Dorado on Saturday night because it had over capacity and people were forced out from the venue due to a fire hazard. De la Rosa later released a statement saying that they had no control over the tickets sold and the Fire Marshal's decision to shut down the venue due to over crowding, including lines of people outside waiting to get into the dance.
Hundreds of fans waited outside, but due to a capacity limit, they were not allowed into La Mafia St. Valentine's Day dance. Univision 45 in Houston reported what De la Rosa had stated in the circulated video about the HLSR and how the event organizers said, that they are working with groups that can sell concert tickets, prompting one of the female commentators at the Univision broadcast to say, like Tejano music is no longer popular, como quien dice "La musica Tejana ya no pega." Well the commentators missed the crowd at the El Dorado indicating que Tejano music si pega (Tejano music is alive and kicking)!

Obama's Executive DAPA Immigration Action Stopped By Texas Federal Judge

Texas federal judge ruled President Obama's executive action on immigration allowing 4M of undocumented immigrants (parents) to get state and federal benefits in the U.S. unconstitutional.

Austin, Texas - On Monday, Texas federal Judge Andrew S. Hanen ruled in a 123-page decision to grant an injunction of President Barack H. Obama's executive action on immigration allowing 4M of undocumented parents of DACA immigrants expansion to get state and federal benefits and to be allowed to stay in the U.S. was unconstitutional.
Judge Hanen's ruling doesn't not enjoin the 2012 DACA executive action by Obama for undocumented students to stay in the U.S. by renewing their stay every two years and be allowed to get work permits, but only it's expansion of the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA), which was approved by Obama on November 20, 2014. DAPA was suppose to take effect on Tuesday.
Texas Governor Greg Abbot (R) filed a lawsuit against Obama's executive DAPA action on immigration and 26 other states joined the lawsuit. Abbot tweeted on late Monday, "The rule of law has been upheld- President Obama's Executive Amnesty has been ruled unconstitutional...Federal Judge just granted my request to halt Obama's Executive Amnesty Order Nationwide."

Ethics Board Complaint Filed At City Hall Against Alderman José G. Pérez

Ethics Board complaint describes details how Alderman José G. Pérez engaged in conflict of interest, made derogatory comments, attempted to purchase the 611 building and canceled his presence to a grand opening for an insurance business at the Esperanza Unida International Building.

February 16, 2015

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Monday, the Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) received a copy of the Ethics Board complaint that was filed in June 2014 against Alderman José G. Pérez at City Hall by Esperanza Unida, Inc. (EU) Executive Director Manuel "Manny" Pérez. Manny alleged that Alderman Pérez engaged in conflict of interest as an alderman, made derogatory comments against EU, attempted to purchase the 611 building and canceled his presence to a grand opening for an insurance business at the Esperanza Unida International Building.
Manny wrote, "This Ethics complaint is being pursued because Alderman José Pérez...intended to obstruct or interfere with the business operations of Esperanza Unida...using his position as Alderman to avoid working collaboratively with Esperanza Unida...Evidence that supports this complaint will show that Alderman José Pérez has: 1. A conflict of interest pertaining to Esperanza Unida; 2. Pérez is unable to make objective and impartial decisions regarding any matter Esperanza Unida is involved in that have to do with economic development in the area...; 3. Alderman Pérez has abused the duties of his office by improperly engaging in destructive and negative communications with agency tenants and perspective tenants...are reasons for an ethical investigation to be conducted around the activities of Alderman José Pérez and his interfering actions against Esperanza Unida Business endeavors."
Evidence that Manny indicated showed filed statements, that Ald. Pérez approached a EU Board member before he became an alderman attempting to buy the 611 W. National Ave. EU building, made negative comments to a perspective tenant resulting in questioning whether to rent at EU, in 2013, that Damon Dorsey, a developer contacted EU and notified Manny that he won't be doing any business with EU because Alderman Pérez offered a BID to Dorsey undermining any economic development project for EU without public imput, Manny requested a letter of support from Ald. Pérez for EU's attempt to promote economic development and Ald. Pérez refused to grant a letter of support to EU until a lawyer received a statement from a EU Board member indicating he had requested to buy the EU building, Ald. Pérez found out and immediately released a letter of support to EU.
In June 1, 2014, Ald. Pérez abruptly canceled his commitment to speak and be present at a Grand Opening event for J&B Insurance when he discovered the event was being held at EU's 611 building. Manny also requested in the EB complaint for Ald. Pérez to recused himself from any dealing or indirectly dealing with EU and asked for a public apology. Ald. Pérez who received a copy of the EB complaint by EU never apologized.
When contacted on Monday, Robert Miranda, the former Esperanza Unida Executive Director stated, "Jose G. Perez never bothered to lift a finger to help Esperanza Unida. Before he became alderman his only action was to come see me in order to ask me to sell the 611 building to developers he had lined up. I told him no. His actions as alderman, as it relates to Esperanza Unida tells the story exactly--his self-interest supersedes the community. A philosophy he again displayed during the matter of placing a library at Cesar E. Chavez Drive. It's always about him getting something in return".
"In addition, had EB investigated this compliant, EB would have found that Dorsey confirmed that Alderman Pérez committed an illegal act by offering Dorsey a BID position, which Dorsey confirmed in cross examination in court hearing proceedings during the Irene Correa v Manuel Pérez case against Manny," Miranda stated.
The EB did not conduct an investigation to the allegations made against Ald. Pérez because the complaint filed by Manny was via e-mail and was not notarized. HNNUSA had requested the EB under a public records law to release any action taken by the EB, both the EB and the Milwaukee City Attorney's Office refused to comment and release any information, but confirmed the EU complaint was filed and no action was taken. The EB is housed in the same section where all the Milwaukee Common Council members have their offices and the EB's personnel also work with the alderman/women during committee meetings or hearings questioning a conflict of interest to conduct any investigation concerning the Common Council.
The City of Milwaukee took ownership of the $1.7M EU 611 building for owing more than $300K in property taxes and is apparently selling the building to an Oshkosh developer who wants to convert it into a 55-unit apartment complex.
Both Manuel Pérez and Alderman Pérez were contacted by an e-mail request to comment about the EB complaint that was filed with the EB, but no response was returned by either party. Manny did not release the EB complaint, but had previously confirmed that he can back up the statement's in the complaint.

Madison, Alabama - On Thursday, Madison Police Chief Larry Muncey announced that Field Training Police Officer Eric Parker was served with disciplinary papers after an internal investigation concerning the use of force, found that he did not follow standard procedure when he confronted Sureshbhai Patel, 57, on February 6 while walking near his son's new home. Chief Muncey confirmed that he is recommending for Officer Parker to be fired. Parker was arrested and charged for assault in the third degree and was booked at the Limestone County Jail. Bail for Parker was set at $1,000.
According to police, neighbors noticed Patel walking in the sidewalk admiring the homes and they got suspicious because he had dark skin, was slender and had not been seen in the area before. A resident called police notifying them that he had seen Patel one day earlier in the neighborhood and that he was walking around looking at homes and garages.
When three police officers arrived to question Patel, he couldn't speak English, but only a few words, which drove Officer Patel to search him after he threw him to the ground. Patel suffered severe injuries and was partially paralyzed.
He had cervical surgery the next day and is beginning to have some movement on his feet and hands. It will take Patel a long recovery process to regain his body movement or walk again.
His family says, that Patel had recently arrived in the country to help take care of his son's 17-month-old child. Chirag Patel says, his father told him that three officers had stopped him and when he was questioned that he pointed at his son's home. He even gave them their house number. When he pointed at his son's house, Officer Parker grabbed his arm and forced it to his back and threw him on the ground. Patel couldn't stop the fall, hit his face and injured his neck causing him partial paralysis.
Muncey says, that the FBI is also investigating the case to determine, if any federal laws were violated and deprived Patel of his civil rights.
The Patel family has hired an attorney and filed a lawsuit against the Madison Police Department.
Parker's confrontation with Patel was video recorded by a police squad dash camera.
