Rally And Vigil Planned For Deported U.S. Veterans And Mothers Of DREAMers

Rallies, a march and vigils for deported U.S. Veterans and mothers of DREAMers scheduled for Tuesday at the Washington, D.C. National Monument and outside of the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana.

Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, several rallies, a march and vigils for deported U.S. Veterans and Moms of DREAMers will take place at the Washington, D.C. National Monument and outside of the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, the Deported Veterans Support House (DVSH) announced. A march will follow from the Washington, D.C. National Monument to the White House. The DVSH in a news release stated, that on Tuesday, January 6th, veterans of the U.S. military, their supporters, families and communities will hold a vigil in Washington D.C. & U.S. Consulate in Tijuana calling on President Barack H. Obama to end the policy of deporting U.S. Veterans who have served the country faithfully and to bring home the U.S. Veterans and the mothers of DREAMers that have already been deported. DREAMers Moms are women who have American born children that are deported to various countries.

Under the 1996 former President Bill Clinton deportation law, Veterans were forced across the border and exiled around the world. Some of the deported Veterans who earned medical benefits had their benefits terminated illegally or were never applied when they were deported by the U.S. government. Many deported Veterans were injured and today continue to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as well as experiencing homelessness and lack of no medical care by the U.S. Veterans Administration (VA). Only upon death are deported Veterans allowed to return to the U.S. with full military Honors.

Today, deported Veterans are required by the VA to be present in the U.S. to applied or be considered for medical benefits, making it impossible for deported Veterans to applied or schedule an appointment. The VA was recently exposed for denying Veterans care and lack of accountability for its failure to provide timely care for Veterans in a waiting list. Also hundreds of Veterans seeking medical care were never added to the waiting list and had to wait for years to get help.

"Our nation's dedicated servicemen have been separated from their children and families. We request President Obama to pardon them with a stroke of a pen under a presidential executive order," the DVSH stated.

DREAMers Moms U.S.A. will join the march since many mothers and children have been left alone without one or both parents. There are many U.S. born children living outside the United States as deportees with their deported parents. Many of these children live in shelters under extreme harsh and poor conditions. Many of these mothers have no criminal record. Their only crime was to seek a better life. Susana Sandoval will give testimony about her plight. An estimated five million children are suffering because of family separation.

The Washington, D.C. National Monument rally will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
