Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, hundreds of people from various communities gathered at the Arrow Park for a peaceful rally and march through downtown Milwaukee. They were chanting Justice for Dontre Hamilton, a Black community member who was killed by a White former Police Officer, Christopher Manney enforcing a Milwaukee County Ordinance prohibiting any resident from just sleeping at the park during the afternoon.
Another 40 people went to the Mayfair Mall in Wawautosa around 4:30 p.m. and briefly staged a die-in and announced 14 reasons why Black lives matter. The protesters at Mayfair after ending their die-in act in front of late Christmas shoppers then left the mall.
In both events, police reported no arrests, but in Milwaukee, bus loads of Milwaukee police officers and Milwaukee County Sheriff deputies followed the protesters to the BMO and Harris Bradley Center where they staged a sit-in and chanted "Shut it down, We don't need racist Cops."
The rally ended at Arrow Park after 8:p.m.
Police were called to the Grand Avenue Mall about an incident. They haven't reported, if it was related to the Hamilton downtown protest or march.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office suspended all vacation leave for deputies and were ordered to show up for work, which many weren't to happy working on the holidays.
