Las Vegas, Nevada - On Sunday, Jerad Miller, 31, and Amanda Miller, 22, both from Lafayette, Indiana who in early January moved to Las Vegas just before 11:22 a.m. walked into the CiCi's Pizza restaurant at the 300 block of N. Nellis Blvd. and shot Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officers Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31, while they were eating lunch. Officer Beck was able to return fire, but was shot in the throat by Jerad. Jerad had first shot Officer Soldo in the back of the head. Soldo died at the scene and Beck was later declared dead at a local hospital.
The shooting at CiCi's was captured by a video surveillence camera. Video footage shows Jerad briefly walked into the restaurant and exiting before returning and shooting the officers.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) reported that the Millers after shooting Beck and Soldo, they went to a nearby Walmart store, where a third victim, Joseph Robert Wilcox, 31, of Las Vegas was shot and killed around 11:27 a.m. Wilcox was found by the front main entrance.
Jared had fired a shot inside Walmart and ordered people to leave. That's when Wilcox who was carrying a conceal weapon reacted and went to confront Jerad. Amanda who was behind Wilcox, then took out a handgun and shot Wilcox in the ribs. Wilcox died from his injury.
The Millers went to the rear of the store where they barricaded themselves. Police entered Walmart from the front and rear of the store. The Millers fired at police and after a brief exchange of gunfire, Jerad was fatally shot by police. Amanda who had suffered a bullet wound, then fatally shot herself once in the head.
The Millers had taken the weapons, ammunition and badges from the officers at the pizza parlor. Police suspect that the Millers were anti-government, had supremacy group connections and were Sovereign ideology followers.
Beck was hired on August 2001 and is survived by his wife and three children. Soldo was hired by the LVMP on April 2006 and is survived by his wife and a baby, according to the LVMPD.
