Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, at least 200 people and children rallied and protested outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Milwaukee office on 310 E. Knapp Street. The protest was organized by Voces de la Frontera (VDLF), an immigrant and workers rights non-profit organization.
VDLF claims, that the ICE raids detained multiple members of the undocumented immigrant community who had no criminal records and had been working in the country for years. The protesters were demanding for ICE to release all non-criminal undocumented immigrants that were arrested on Tuesday.
Chicago's ICE spokeswoman, Gail Montenegro in a released statement says, two raids were executed on Tuesday in Wisconsin. Five alleged members of the Mexican Posse gang were taken into custody along with 17 other illegal aliens, which one was turned over to local authorities for a warrant, another had re-entered the country and the rest are facing deportation proceedings under administrative orders, according to Montenegro.
The ICE raids have continued after President Barack H. Obama ordered ICE officials to cancel a prior review that he requested of their policies in detaining undocumented immigrants. Obama cancelled the review after pressure from multiple groups to halt the review in order to allow the U.S. House of Representatives time to introduce an immigration reform bill.
The New York Times reported that the immigration council for the United States Conference of Bishops, the main Hispanic evangelical Christian coalition and the Service Employees International Union headed by Eliseo Medina urged President Obama to delay an ICE review of policies for several months. Medina who stopped eating and fasted for days was called a "sell out" by other immigration rights groups in social media. The A.F.L.-C.I.O. denounced Obama's delay.
The House will take its time to deal with immigration reform, despite Obama's attempt to force the Republican controlled House to introduce a bill. If the House doesn't act before its August recess, immigration reform for 2014 is considered dead.

In May, VDLF held a march and rally at the Milwaukee County Courthouse to demand for ICE to stop detaining undocumented immigrants when they go pay fines, getting marriage licenses, have court hearings, are seeking restraining orders and other court related legal business. ICE has been present at multiple county courthouses in Wisconsin when Spanish interpreters are requested at hearings and then take suspected undocumented immigrants into custody without a court order.
Numerous rogue ICE agents have been exposed in Wisconsin, California, Illinois and other states for such illegal activities at courthouses. No ICE agent has been ever held accountable or prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice for corruption and illegal activities that include illegal coercing of undocumented immigrants into signing voluntary deportation documents and denying them legal representation. ICE is considered one of the most corrupt agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Every U.S. Citizen and whether legal or not are afforded Constitutional rights to seek due process and protective services from crimes. When ICE detains immigrants at a courthouse, they prevent people or victims of crime from seeking justice and due process, thus aiding criminals.
Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) has noticed that immigration reform pro-rallies, protests, marches and disobedience strategies to bring attention to reform have become stagnant and attracted limited support in the last few years. One economic strategic campaign has not been taken seriously by national immigration rights groups, which is to collaborate on a national campaign to educate undocumented immigrants and their families to save their hard earned money and commit to spend only on necessary items. Immigrants need to realize that they have an economic power to spend and need to learn to manage that empowerment to their advantage as a collective group. They should stop indiscriminate spending until the U.S. House of Representatives and Congress decides to approve an immigration reform bill with a path to citizenship.
Undocumented Immigrants have yet to engage in a national economic attempt to slow down the U.S. economic growth in an effort to show their influence on economic growth.

Free Manny! I'm from San Antonio, Texas. He comes down here for the family reunions. He's a family man with 4 kids. The separation of families with ICE tactics and profiting of prisoners in detention centers is immoral. We must voice our concerns to city government and pass resolutions like in San Antonio to stop ICE raids. Sincerely, Pedro Ismael Ruiz, U.S. Army Veteran, B.F.A.
