Vollmer Wins Olympic Gold Metal And Set Record For Butterfly 100-meter Swim

U.S. swimmer set record for 100-meter butterfly swim and wins gold medal.

London - On Sunday, Dana Vollmer, 24, from the U.S. set a world record in the 100-meter butterfly swim competition and won an Olympic gold metal. Vollmer finished in 55.98 seconds, breaking the 2009 world championship record of 56.06 seconds set by Sarah Sjostrom from Sweden.
Lu Ying from China received the silver metal with 56.87 seconds and Alicia Coutts of Australia got the bronze with 56.94 seconds in the butterfly race.
