Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that $1 million dollars has been offered for information leading to the safe location, recovery and return of Robert A. Levinson, 63. Levinson working as a private investigator on March 9, 2007 disappeared in Kish Island, Iran while investigating a case for several major corporations.
The State Department reported that last year, they received information Levinson was being held captive by an unidentified group in southwest Asia, which includes the border regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran.
The FBI who investigate crimes committed against Americans abroad reported that a publicity campaign is being launched this week in southwest Asia to heighten awareness of Levinson’s abduction by offering $1,000,000 reward to solicit information. Billboards, radio messages, and flyers will be utilized to publicize the reward and the investigation. A telephone tip line will be provided to listeners and viewers in that region, so that they can confidentially provide information.
Levinson is a former FBI special agent and had retired after 28 years of service with the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
