Women working as escorts among the dead and the massacre is the worst in Monterrey's history.

Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico - On Saturday, Jorge Domene, spokesperson for the Nuevo Leon State Security confirmed that the death toll has reached 21 at the El Sabino Gordo Bar. One of the 5 wounded victims died at the University Hospital raising the death toll to 21. Domene during a press conference said, that last month the bar was raided and drugs had been found at the establishment. The bar remained opened beyond the time recommended for it to close due to the recent increase in violence in Monterrey.
The shooting on Friday night was sparked by a feud between Los Zetas and the Gulf Cartel, according to Domene. Authorities found small empty packages with cocaine residue at the bar. The bar is known for attracting drug dealers and police are searching for a man by the name of Alonso, aka, "El Botella" in connection with distributing drugs at El Sabino Gordo.
16 people were killed inside the bar, when gunmen opened fire. The gunmen arrived in two vans and a vehicle. They first shot a vendor and two other people outside. Two men stood guard outside while the rest of the killers armed with automatic weapons went inside and fatally shot people.
At least 4 women who worked for the bar as escorts were killed and 16 men, including 8 men wearing vests with the bar's name were also killed. 5 were wounded, including 3 men and a women, another victim later died at the hospital, according to Domene.
The State Attorney General's Office said, that state investigators found AK-47 and AR-15 castings at the scene. The Military police and the Federal Attorney General's Office have joined the investigation.
