Sheboygan, Wisconsin - Last Saturday, a Sheboygan County Sheriff arrested three men after stopping them on a seat belt and traffic violation. After searching the vehicle, Sheboygan Sheriff's Deputy Barry Nelson discovered 115 mini plastic bags (bindles) containing heroin, about 2 ounces worth $11,500.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office says, it's the biggest bust yet for a deputy sheriff, during a traffic stop.
On Monday, Jacob L. Martin, 26, Benjimen G. Chaltry, 35, and Robert J. Rogers, 31, were charged with felony counts of possession of 10 to 50 grams of heroin with intent to deliver, and face up to 15 years each in prison, if convicted. Cash bail bonds were set at $50,000 for Martin, $45,000 for Rogers, and $30,000 for Chaltry. Also, they were charged with misdemeanor cocaine possession, according to court records.
The three men are from Marinette County. The criminal complaint states that Deputy Nelson saw a vehicle just south of the county line on I-43 with several equipment violations and stopped it. He then noticed that two of the suspects weren't wearing seat belts as required by state law.
Martin apparently lied about his name to Deputy Nelson and Nelson then search the vehicle discovering the heroin. Chaltry had bought the heroin in Chicago, Illinois and was going to sell the drug in Marinette County, according to the criminal complaint.
