Milwaukee - On Tuesday, Aug. 4, Milwaukee police, the mayor and area residents attended the 26th National Night Out event sponsored by Badger Mutual Insurance. Communities around the country sponsor events to help build community spirit, create strong relationships between neighbors and law enforcement by working together in order to prevent crime. “It America’s night out against crime,” according to organizers.
Badger Mutual in the 1600 block of W, National Ave. had their event in the North-West parking lot located on S. 17th St. Food, soda, games, and raffle prizes were provided free of charge for those attending the event.
Roy Bubeck, President and CEO of Badger Mutual Insurance was not at the event due to a prior commitment. Mayor Tom Barrett, Milwaukee Police Lieutenant Carianne Yerkes, and Police Captain Donald J. Gaglione both from District 2 attended the event sponsored by Badger Mutual along with Officer Jesus Gloria, the Community Liaison for District 2. Gloria is well known in the district for organizing area community block watch programs, crime prevention and providing crime data to local residents and businesses.
Captain Gaglione expressed satisfaction with the large turn out by local residents, and added that residents cooperating and working along with officers help keep the neighborhood safe.
