A Milwaukee police officer shot a 17-year-old teen with a rifle after he refused repeated orders to drop the weapon at a Southside alley.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Wednesday, Milwaukee police at 9:21 p.m. responded to shots fired at the 1400 block of W. Scott Street. When police arrived, residents in the area directed police of a group of teens riding mopeds leaving the scene, the witnesses directed police to a 17-year-old teen with a rifle riding a moped.
Police pursuit the armed suspect to an alley at the 700 block of W. Scott Street where he was cornered and was ordered by a 26-year-old police officer multiple times to drop his weapon, the teen refused and the officer shot the teen in the leg twice.
The 17-year-old year old teen suffered non-fatal injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A social media video regarding the police shooting was posted in Facebook by Renee Canady.
It is illegal to ride a moped in City streets, but police lack enforcement.
The police shooting is under investigation by the homicide unit, despite the teen survived, according to police.
Criminal charges are now pending against the 17-year-old suspect.
